Commonplace books, 1836-1863.

Richmond, Virginia. The two volumes include puns, jokes, anecdotes, and humorous notes. Volume one is written in part of a checkbook of the Greenwood Mining Company, Richmond, which also includes check stubs for Nov. 14 1836-Oct 18, 1838. Volume two includes three letters: A.I. Smith to Dr. Little, Dec. 17, 1861, regarding treatment for Thomas W. Payn; Elizabeth L. Faris to the sergeant of the hospital, March 17, 1863, regarding the death of her husband; Martha J. Camden to Dr. Little, April 15, 1863 regarding her brother John J. Clement. The loose items include receipts of John Smith, newapaper clippings, and a letter from Edmon Colston to his mistress, Jan 27, 1856, regarding his mistreatment as a hired worker and requests relief through Dr. Little.
